Now that the new pay scales have been in for a few months is it making much difference to how people bid and consequently your life styles. I gather that flight pay is based on time away, rather than the destination. Inparticular what is life like at the bottom of the seniority list.
Not knowing much about the long haul life styles; are the people towards the bottom of the seniority list permenantly flying the ultra long stuff with heavy crews, few take off and landings and longer periods of time away?
If anyone could shed some light on it, I'd much appreciate it!
Cheers.

You are correct in as much as, the new pay system now allows those who were driven purely by money, to now bid for lifestyle factors.
However, you would be wrong to think that meant ultra long haul is unpopular.
Fewest days at work in any given month, would probably be most people's lifestyle choice. Therefore, many longer trips (though not necessarily ULH) can be quite 'credit effecient.'
Certain destinations will also be particularly appealing to some, regardless of credit.
The unpopular places tend to be, the Gulf to an extent, but mainly 3 day US trips. Partly because they are knackering when flown with 2 crew, partly because they tend to be low credit, and partly because they tend to be pretty uninteresting (unless you enjoy shopping) Consequently, junior guys would probably expect around 5 EWR, IAD, PHL, ATL, ORD, or the like on their line in any given month.
Incidentally, 'flight pay', and 'Time Away From Base' pay, are two different payments.
Does this help?
