Scandinavian Airlines - lousy terms and salary

Scandinavian airlines pay is soon almost half compared with Norwegian. In a few months a top senior captain in Norwegian will make about 170.000 euros per year, fixed salary. Scandi same seniority pays 95.000 euros. That's a 75.000 euro difference. NAS has fixed 5/4 roster, only variable for SAS (small fixed group full, no vacancies).
Starting salary FO (1500hrs experience) NAS 71.000 euro vs SAS 47.000 euros. That's a 24.000 euro difference. Although new hires have gotten fixed group recently, it is only 35% max and its getting full now. So only variable group for future hires.

If you are thinking about SAS Link you can subtract 15% from that, so FO starting salary (1500hrs+) would be around 40.000 euros. Cost of living in Norway is sky high.

So if you wanna feel like a real looser, go ahead and apply for SAS.

But seriously, stay away from this ****ty employer.

That's the reality in EU nowadays
Especially for airlines who hire pilots with no actual experience. Too many ''pilots'' prefer to starve to get in a jet cockpit. As long as airlines find this kind of pilots, the salaries will shrink.
I was lucky enough to find a job in EU with relatively good money and roster but the requirement was 2500 hours on CS25, simply no pilot with 2500 hours on CS25 would agree to fly for peanuts.

I left SK back in 2004 after 6 years. It was obviously an airline going down the slide. Now there is a little sh@t Gary Deutch CEO who running it to the ground. Yes, it´s not a place to go for - for anybody with skills. Avoid!

It’s actually worse than that. Senior Captains in NAS are 230K+ per year excluding pension from next year if you are willing to go variable roster and almost 250K+ from 2026.

let’s hope our colleagues in SK will fare better in the future!
