Yes you would pay up front for a TR. They’re a bit behind other airlines in terms of T’s and C’s now. If you’re on the Boeing take a look at Jet2 imo, or TUI

Do we think or know if Easyjet are getting the numbers applying who are willing to pay the 22k for the Type Rating? If they are struggling to attract the nunbers they need would they reconsider the requirement to self fund the type rating? As has been said compared to other airlines seems less attractive with the self funded TR and also lack of flight/sector pay......

With their MPL program they seem to have a constant stream of new cadets who are willing to pay so they’re fine for now until that supply runs out

Easyjet is an outlier in charging experienced recruits for the rating, and as the payments come out of net pay - gross it up for a captains 62% marginal rate of tax, and it's equivalent to a pay cut of £57,894!!!
They would be +1 captain, but they would not budge on deducting it from net, so I withdrew from the course.

Your problem is with HMRC unfortunately, not easyJet. Same with the £100K+ flight training, it’s still VATable..!

People should just do what others are planning to do. Book an assessment and use it as free sim / interview prep for Wizz, Jet2 etc

nonsense. Perfectly possible to deduct a type rating from gross, just reduce the starting salary for non type rated by £10k a year for 2 years. HMRC would be none the wiser.
