Industrial Action at Flybe?
I know Cathy is a great airline, but Flybe seem to have done very well for a UK company, workforce however still seem to get screwed!!
Cathay Pilot Union accepted 15% increase, average 4 yr FO on about 74K GBP plus HK housing allowance, up to 7000 HKD a month paid (approx 5600GBP) overtime payments usually increase take home by up to 50%.
Captains, clearly lot more.

From chatting to people on line I'd say 20-30% of Captains and 80% of First Officers are actively looking for jobs elsewhere - the terms and conditions are so far below market rate!!
FO's here take home £1600 a month, SFO's £2000 a month, Captains £3000 - Factor in 9 days off a month and 4 sectors per day and people are knackered, fed up and poor. I now of several pilots here who have been to see their Doctor because they feel ill most of the time - the Doctor takes one look at the roster and says - "of course you do... short term this will leave you feeling grumpy and knackered, long term it is detrimental to your health".
The recent union pay and rostering negotiations have exposed the company as either stupid or uncaring - they just do not understand why anyone wants more than 56 hours off at the weekend and seem to believe that we're well paid for what we do.
The consequence of all this is that we are inevitably heading for industrial action. The latest poll indicates 88% have rejected the company's 'final position'.

How many Jet f/o`s and Capts will be tempted by the improved conditions offered in the current job adds for EMB170/190 pilots for Gulf ??!!
As more are rated on the EMB, i think a large number will use this as their ticket out of Flybe!!
Those that did the secondments last year could see a huge difference between the two companies (pay, rosters, crew food), one could say a real GULF!!!

absolutely right desk pilot. I've met lots and lots of people who are tired , fed up and generally feeling unwell all due to the roster pattern. The way we get treated by screwing oh sorry i meant crewing is a disgrace most of the time. The difference between the amount of money the company make and pay themselves and what we get paid is huge .......................basically its down to greed, and lack of respect for the people that are actually making the money for them
Yep its a lovely relaxing place to work !!

Comparability to those are even debatable now
1. We are heading towards an all jet fleet
2. Some of our colleagues have been working for major airlines (Olympic and Gulf Air ) how much was made from that !!!
3. Keep being told we are the biggest regional airline in europe
4. Our esteemed leader earns more tham Mr Walsh !!!!!
And finally we cant be treated like British Airways et al (the reason i've heard) because we are a completely different type of business model .............. REALLY !!so why are some people in our company earning (allegedly) more than W.W.
WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH!!!!!!

D-day
Well, don't know about you but the last couple of weeks since I put a cross in the box have dragged! Anyway tomorrow is nearly upon us and apparently Balpa won't take long to count and let us know!
Looking forward to seeing what the company will do/offer in response?!
Have they prepared anything?
Will they dig their heels in?
Interesting times ahead.

Bumped into a rep during the base meetings. He suggested that once the results are in, they will go back to company before letting us know what the story is...
We all know the result is though don't we. It's just down to how crushing it actually will be.

industrial action at Flybe
All the votes should be in now. Lets hope its a landslide result. The spotlight will be on BALPA as well as the company. To give due credit, BALPA have put a lot of work into the preposals that were forwarded to management and managed to keep cost to a minimum. If its a NO to the company offer, the union must negotiate a good deal for the pilots, not just a satisfactory one, and prove once and for all that they are value for money in an ever changing world not just a no- guarantee semi-insurance policy to call on in case the hits the fan. Time for the company to shed its skin in terms of small mindedness when it comes to T's and C's. If we're a European Operator now, then reward us appropriately. Stop comparing us to Eastern or Loganair when it suits.
just thinkin out loud.

Just make sure you read the small print in the next deal. Historically they will look like they are offering you a better deal but at the same time make subtle changes to the scheduling.
Don't rush in even if it you do get 10%!

Everyone have a read of this fantastic post at the
DG and P Reporting points forum in the Australian section.
Its a post titled 'Another Jetstar whistleblower'
The author states a brilliant case against the latest airline drives for cutting costs and includes the hiring of such low time pilots as well as engineering. It describes very similar circumstances to flybe pilots.
Remember that these jetstar guys get a lot more money than flybe pilots.

Ah the small print. Removing leave protection (lates to earlies) That's a big NO from me just on that sneaky one. Try again Jim.
Removing that basically snatches a few more days of our lives.
