Easyjet Hotels???

Hi there.

I am to start training with easyjet on the bus, and have been told that the training is near Southampton, with hotel accomodation in something called dibden.

As I can see on a map, dibden is fairly close to Southampton, but as I have no info on the hotel my questions is following:

How is the general standard?
Is there internet, or is it really lowcost accomodation all 5 weeks?
Is there a gym (or as above)?
Is it normal that students stay for the full 5 weks (as recommended by easyjet), or is there time to go home in weekends in the real world?
Is it a defined hotel they use every time (is there a web adresse?)

Any information on what to expect is greatly appreciated, so thanks very much in advance

Why not ask the training dept - they're there to help! You should also have been given details about the new pilot recruit msn group - lots of info there to for folks in a similar position. Good luck with the course.

If you are training with CTC, then Dibden Manor is a very nice old Country house with nice gardens, comfortable rooms and friendly staff. It is not far from Hythe and backs onto the local golf course. You will enjoy it here!

ps No Gym, but one nearby

RAF Dibden? Nice place. Just don't sit in the Air Marshall's armchair next to the fire place or he will poke you with his walking stick.

ps my average on the putting green out the back was 3 under. If you can beat that I'll be impressed. Hole 3 is a real killer if you end up in the rough (hedge).

If you're on the 'bus, you probably aren't staying at Dibden at all but rather at Chilworth Manor. Dibden is the head office for CTC and Boeing training still happens there but I believe all the airbus work now happens on the other side of town at CTC's Nursling sim centre (which is an enormous great boring looking building in the middle of a bunch of other great boring buildings in an industrial estate in Southampton).

Good news is that Chilworth Manor is absolutely amazing, big old country house, the food is just unbelieveable, its all mad gourmet stuff like quails eggs and truffles and scallops etc etc and included in the cost of the course. The uniform girls turned up on week 3 of the course to measure us up for our smart easy uniforms and every single person there had gained a trouser size I would rather they knocked a couple of thousand off the cost of the rating and I slept in the boot of the car and ate tesco value baked beans but that doesn't seem to be an option unfortunately, so enjoy it while you can because you're paying for it.

No gym on site but some nice running tracks and free mountain bikes available to borrow.

No internet at the hotel but it's free down at CTC nursling.

Everyone stays there pretty much non stop on the groundschool. There might be an idle few days or up to a week between groundschool end and sim start, and if there is they will probably kick you out of the hotel and expect you to go home for those days.

There are many hotels which are used during the CTC part of the training. Some are better than others! At most of them, you can sign up for T-mobile hotspot access for the month (£40 for a month).

We are currently in Fawlty Towers in Lyndhurst! You won't find quails eggs, etc here! Anyway, at least it's paid for!

Thanks guys, its nice with some info on the different places they send us to. I am in as DEFO so it doesn't cost me any extra with the extra comfort, so i will prefer a good place with nice people and chilled beers in the bar for the evening than sleeping in my car. - been there and done that

I have not been told yet which hotel i am going to, but have been told it will be on the bus and with training in Southampton - but guess that can be subject to last minutes changes as in the rest of this business

The reason for me asking here and not asking EZY directly is, that they first of all can't say in advance where I am to stay precisely, and second, they might see things very different than those guys that are actually staying in the different hotels. The guy on the floor often sees things different than the guy on top

But anyway, it sounds like it is all very positive where ever I end up with the positive feedback that is on here, so will just look fwd for it with great entushiasm while working out my notice here, and then i will look very much fwd to say "hi" to the uniform girls Purely as a proffesional off course
