BA Short Haul

Just about to undertake BA DEP Sim Assessment. Interested to know more about typical roster patterns for BA SH fleet and opinions regarding feasability of commuting from 90 mins west of LHR.

Many Thanks

No fixed roser patterns as such although you will be able to "bid" for work once you have a few months seniority under your belt. Until then you will probably be awarded "blind lines" which is dealer's choice of a month's worth of work although you can request days off. I live approx 45 mins west of Heathrow and it's never been a problem. You're a bit further west but I can't really see it being an issue. Once in, you could bid for tours which would give you the minimum number of reports at Heathrow. Hope this helps

Not a problem, though you will find it a bit arduous sometimes. A lot of the flying is in tours up to about 5 days maximum, which will make it easier. You will have to be prepared to do day trips with some early starts, though they are better to avoid the rush hour. A lot of people organise accomm with family or friends, and there are a few entrepreneurs who have arranged cheap accomm for pilots next to the airport. There are S/H pilots living further away than you would be.

"..... 90 mins west of LHR" - would that be somewhere in the Cotswolds?
