As per email following rejection - they don't give feedback (frustrating I know) if you fail at day one. I do believe they give feedback following the sim though.

Dinger,

not sure of exact requirements but you definately stand a chance of direct entry longhaul.

With those sort of hours as long as you can get through the selection tests and the sim you would almost certainly get the 744 or 777.

Over 100 people are going part-time and all the other bidders from the shorthaul fleets are still within their first 5 year engagement freeze. Its cheaper for BA to just recruit DEP's to LH and save the conversion course costs. Things change but 90 onto the 744 and 40 on the 777. Good luck

Is this LH requirement confirmed or simply rumour at this stage? Would 6300 hrs - 6000 heavy jet with about 2800 in command - stand me in good stead? I don't want to queer my pitch as I have a 320 start date but would hate to miss the chance of going directly to LH.

Thanks.

Confirmed to the point where offers have been made for hold-pool extraction onto LH.
If in doubt have a chat with the people in Recruitment and see if they have any courses available...

blackred, its has re-opened until the end of Feb. It tends to close and re-open almost immediately...as long as there is still a req for pilots.

Direct entry long-haul: yes, see previous posts.

Blackred1443, the application period is open. From the website: Closing Date: 29th February 2008.

It seems to be updated once a month and at the end of February it will most likely say that the closing date is now at the end of March. It has been like this for quite a while, but as I am not in BA I have no idea when this is to change.

When they last recruited longhaul DEPs in 2005/2006, the only requirements were 2000 hours and a full ATPL.

CIPO,

Regarding initial application, does that refer to the date you submit your application online?

Cheers

Fruitbat - where do you get your info from regarding the numbers reqd onto the 747 and 777? Are you passing down rumours or is it accurate info?

Perhaps they have changed it, CIPO says he emailed to confirm, but I was told when went for Day One last summer that the 11 months starts from your Day One assesment. Again, that was last summer so perhaps they have altered the policy?
Would be nice if they have.

You could e-mail them also to make sure(you'll get an very prompt reply!) but thats what they told me. But if you think about it when asked the question in the online application it says, 'Have you applied within the last 11 months?' It says nothing about your previous day 1 assessment. Mine was May 15th 2007.
My initial application was submitted for the Feb 28th deadline 2007.

As of today BA need 239 new Pilots in FY08/09. 100 to Airbus. 90 to B744 anmd 49 for B777. Plans do change of course but I imagine Airbus ratings particularly welcome at the moment.

Ba Sim Stage

Hi guys

Found loads of info on here regarding the selection day at cranebank with the tests etc, but just wondering if anyone can give some info on the sim stage?

How did you prepare for it? What did you read? Any good links? perhaps you could explain how the day went & what you had to do?
In fact, any info possible would help cause really struggling on what to read up on!

Thanks
