747FOCAL,
Correct in your statement regards Sims not being 100% accurate, Next time you have a play in one get the operator to enter "Single wing auto-slat operation during climb",Murphy was here.!!

Testing out ECON cruise on a B777 a couple of days ago, thanks to extremely cheap fuel that aircraft was nicely flying along just below the barbers pole....... unfortunately that was only around M.86.........

Who says that new technology is better?????

G-ALAN - It depends on the temperature and altitude as to whether or not Vmo is higher than Mmo. At the altitude (33,000' ?) I did that mach run Mmo was limiting, but down low Vmo is limiting, like this -

- You can see that the mach number is lower, and we're down around 18,000' and heading down fairly fast.

Re-engine 72s?

What about the Trident?

Stick a couple of modern engines and a glass flightdeck on a few new build airframes, delete the third to save drag and watch that baby go - put about 50 J class seats in and more fuel and then beat Privatair across the pond by an hour or two
