Italian carriers with EI-aircraft

It seems popular amongst italian carriers to operate aircraft on EI-registration. Alitalia, Air One, WindJet etc.
Why? Tax, regulatory issues or what?

Or back lease,
means you sell your own and maybe payed airplane, and you take it back in leasing, with interests on debt you can recover in your budget...
Something like this...

Example: Alitalia A321 I-BIXE now is EI-IXE

See ya.
