Malaysian gov. urge to issue another LCC licence

Haha That why he down in JKT hiding out until the heat cools off.. A new CEO is good...A nothing to do with me situation ..deny deny... A good CEO always blame someone else..and jump ship when in caca...... open another airline in Indonesia.. He going for Batavia Air... As the CEO is in need of help with finance... the airline is not going to survive too long.. he going to have his feet in two places again.. haha...

Several members of Parliament today proposed that the government issue another low cost carrier licence to operate cheap flights after AirAsia's threat to snub the new LCCT.

Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (BN-Pasir Salak) in expressing disappointment over what he deemed arrogance on the part of AirAsia group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, for issuing such a statement.

"He has openly threatened the government on LCCT matter and boldly said on television, his refusal to cooperate with Malaysia Airports Berhad (MAB) on the matter. So a licence should be issued to another operator," he said while debating the 2012 Supplementary Bill today.

Wee Choo Keong (Ind-Wangsa Maju) in concurring with the proposal said an additional licence would spur healthy competition in the airline industry, urging the government not to give in to the low fare airline, calling the government to aid only true Malaysian businessmen.

Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) wanted the government to be firm in handling the issue of AirAsia not wanting to use KLIA 2 and questioned why Tony Fernandes was given the freedom to threaten the government on the matter.

He too supported the proposal for another low fare airline to operate in the country.

Blame it on MAB. Here's why:

i)New runway is only 45m in width(current 60m)
ii) New runway has no Centreline light(though no requirement for CAT 1)

If this 2 essential items already been "short pay", what about other small items?
Leave it to your imagination.

In short, MAB=BN corrupted beyond redemption

TF got what he wanted by killing FireFly Jet service. It was starting to eat into his beloved AA market share, and with Eddie Leong running the show, FireFly Jet had plans to go directly at AA with better service and comparable prices, as well as doing point to point service rather than hub and spoke.

Tony hates competition (he has said it more than one time to more than one reporter), and was able to kill FireFly Jets without breaking a sweat, sending probably the most competent airline manager in Malaysia if not the region packing to the hotel industry.

Now with MAS backing off any kind of low fare type business, and FireFly Jet out of the way, he buggers off to Jakarta, assured that AA will have little or no competition in the low fare market until 2015 and ASEAN Open Skies rolls around. Where were those voices calling for competition against AA when Big Tony was doing his best Sopranos imitation, wacking FireFly and making sure his only competition went to 'sleep with the fishes'?
