How many hours on ME - 25 or 15?

Hello Ppruners,
Thanks to all of your help before, i had come to India after my PPL and cleared both my regs and met exam in one go, only the Nav remains which i will do after i come back to India.

Now i have a doubt which i think someone of you can clarify, my package in my school includes 15 hours on multi engine aircraft - we have two options for Seneca and duchess but i will do on Seneca.

Now most of the indian students are here paying extra for 10 hours on a/c and doing 25 hours on Seneca. AFAIK - DGCA requires 10 on ME for endorsement but some airlines required 25 out of which 10 can be done on a sim.

I have two options :
1. Give 300$/hour extra for 10 hours to do 25 hours on Seneca which i dont want to.
2. Do the 15 on Seneca as in package and 10 on the sim or leave the sim hours as well and just come back home with 15 hours on ME.

Am totally confused so please help. Also does the ME sim need to be approved by DGCA?

Thanks

P.S: I am doing only multi commercial and not single comm with multi comm, hope that is not a problem.

You already know the answer of your query, just making it clear so that you don't get confused.

You want to sit for Airlines then 25 Hours on ME is must on the other hand you only want 15 of actual flying time on ME.So rest can be done on ME Sim which you don't want to do but considering 25 Hour is bare minimum so go and do it on Sim.

You want to sit with CPL or fly for airlines?
If you want later one then you need to follow their eligibility limitations.

Though only airlines with 320 fleet require 25 hours on ME....not on 737 but then again i can be wrong or Airlines can up their requirements.
Just to be on safe side go for 15 ME + 10 Sim Time.

@johny boy,
Thanks for your help bud , well yes i do want to sit in a cockpit so i think 25 hours is a bare minimum for it. I can do the 10 hours on a sim right?

Does the ME sim also needs to be approved by the stupid DGCA? I dont know if the sim in my flight academy is approved by DGCA or even if the sim needs to be approved for this purpose.

Yes Sim needs to be approved by STUPID DGCA.

If you want to do Sim rather then flying in actual and have money to spend then do it on B200 atleast you will get a backup for Charter,it will count as Rating with 10 hours and do good with any Airline.
You can do Sim after getting your Indian CPL just like all other Ratings are done which will take care of your 10 hours of ME sim and a brand new rating to fall on just incase.

You can do Sim session back in India at Religare aviation center or from any other place.

As long as you have done 10 hours on an aircraft registered in India it dosent matter whether you flew the SIM or not as far as DGCA is concerned

They charged 45k Rs or 900$ / hour in actual B200 for training including their instructor, rate was in 2010 Oct.

They got new SIM imported from South Africa in April 2011.
Sorry don't know what they are charging but it will be less then actual hours on B200.

Are 10 hours on a SIM enough to get a B200 rating ?

Dosent the DGCA require 10 hours on an actual aircraft ?

Can I do a 10 hours on a B200 SIM in the U.S and then get the get an Endorsement on my DGCA license ? ( I am yet to convert my FAA license )

Yes 10 hours on approved SIM is enough considering that is the minimum requirement.

Yes you can get it on FAA CPL and get it endorsed on Indian CPL but you need to follow guidelines for getting a rating in accordingly to DGCA.
Just follow B200 rating as doing an Add-On rating of C-172/ BE-76 or PA-34 with all those checks and T/OFF's,ie, General Flying Tests( GTF's).

DGCA require 10 hours on actual aircraft with AUW of 5700 less. But your getting it done on FAA CPL and Religare has started 10 hours package on SIM for Rating of B200.Their SIM is 6-Axis D Level. So i think you need a Level-D Sim for B200.

@ cyril roy and johny boy,

Thanks for your help guys , appreciate it. In that case i would just do 10 hours on the Seneca by paying 2000$ extra, if the airline opening come in i would have to rush to US for it then.

I would strongly suggest you do atleast 15 hours on a ME aircraft( dosent matter which one ) and 10 hours on the SIM before you come back

This is because the only airline in India at present having this requirement is IndiGo
It also happens to be the only airline that has been consistently hiring pilots every month for the past one year and will continue to do so in the forseeable future (lots of A320 on order )

https://pilot.cae.com/Programs/Indigo.aspx

I am 99% sure that when you get your Indian CPL issued that they will still be hiring and they will still have the 25 hour ME requirement

@Cyrilroy

My bad, what i wanted to say was that in my package there are already 15 hours on an approved Seneca and my flight school charges around 2000$ for 10 hours extra which makes it a total of 25.

As you say i wont risk coming back to India with only 15 on a multi a/c, lets see if i can find any approved sim here, do you have any idea from where do i get such list, tried finding it but couldnt.

If not, will just do full 25 hours on a Seneca.

Sorry i understood your statement only after i read it a couple of times and hence deleted my previous post

Do you have multi sim in your flying school ?

If yes then just fly the sim . There is no need for any DGCA approval .

The airlines just want 25 hours on any multi aircraft . Dosent matter whether its recognised by DGCA or not

@ cyril roy,
A big big thanks for your help bro. So i have to just do the 15 hours of Seneca which is in my package and i can do the rest 10 on multi sim.

Yes we do have a multi sim in our flying school, some one told me that it needs to be approved to log those 10 hours so thats why i posted here to double check.

Now that it is cleared, i will go tomorrow and check how much they charge for the multi sim/hour.
