An aircraft belonging to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Air Force has been found carrying a large cache of arms and ammunition and has been detained along with its 10 crew members in Kolkata. The C-One Thirty hercules transport aircraft, bound for Hanyang in China from Abu Dhabi, landed at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International airport, Kolkata, for refueling.

The flight was flying under the wrong code. The UAE aircraft was flying under a civil call sign and not a defence call sign as is required by an aircraft carrying arms and ammunition.

Also, the pilot of the C-One Thirty aircraft refused customs officials to search the aircraft and its cargo. According to sources, the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has cancelled the registration of the plane.
