HELP!SYFC denied due to childhood asthma

Hi all.

Would appreciate if anyone could give me advice.

I went to Singapore Youth Flying Club to submit my application for the ppl course.I'm 17 this year, having just completed my 'O' levels last year.

I was denied due to history of my childhood asthma.I only had asthma when i was very young.Around 3 months old and have not been hospitalized with respect to asthma attacks or so on.Since then i have no problems with respect to that.I can jump, run and so on.

My only hurdle now is that the personnel told me they don't accept childhood asthma applicants.Unless i could alter my Health Booklet which can proves that i did not have childhood asthma, otherwise i can't join YFC.Reason being that they once had a pilot and later on,suffered asthma attacks when he was driving rather than piloting.

Is there any other way for me to get admitted in YFC?
I'm really desperate.Would gladly appreciate any help.Thanks.

Regards

You can always get your ppl elsewhere other than SYFC.

Try writing a letter of appeal to the YFC boss. You could go and get a class one medical by yourself and back it up with that. Also why not go to a specialist doctor and get a full lung check up and tests and show that you do not have any asthma condition of your lungs. Perhaps with that documentation you could get your application to be accepted. Good luck with your national service and hope you make it to the air force.

Hi there ! Well what you can do is go to a government hospital which does this test for asthma. I forgot what it's called but what is being done is that they'll introduce small doses of a drug to irritate your lungs. If your lungs over react to this .. that means your asthma is still active. If not .. congrats .. your conditioned is already updated. If you have any further queries , feel free to contact me ..
