SIA COMMAND POLICY ON M'SIAN FO
Dear ppruners,
Just would like to gather some info regarding on a malaysian FO working for SIA. Is it true that a malaysian FO at SIA , need to convert into singapore citizenship in order to bcome commander on SIA a/c?....Recently met a guy from one of the airlines in malaysia who worked for SIA as a FO for almost 19years!!!! Wow..Kindly advice on this matter pls...

In SIA there are at least 200 living examples of Malaysians who joined as cadets, became FOs and then got their command in SIA. Some are still Malaysian. Some became Singapore citiziens to jump the queue (by a little bit). Many are Singapore PRs (but still very wisely Malaysian citizens).

Length of service in an airline has never guaranteed a promotion to command. I have known FO's who will never transfer to the captains seat as long as their bums point downwards because they simply do not have the aptitude for it or are just happy to stay where they are.
