Yes Oxford, there are plenty of expat CPT's on the 777 at SQ. And they need more, both pax and cargo (744) are hiring.

The package is stated on the SIA careers website. The pay has dropped in real terms over recent years and it is not the happiest outfit (but then which company is these days?) but its better than many other options.

Modern types, good maintenance and std's and interesting variety of routes. On the 777 you can be doing Kuala Lumpur and BKK's one day and Tokyo or Melbourne the next.

The main gripes appear to be mgts / govts attitude and the asian "CRM" one experiences with some local's etc. (telling tales on expats is policy and many have no airline experience pre SQ).

Singapore is a nice place to live; clean, safe, good services and shopping etc, although it is somewhat "sterile". Its been very regulated for many years and its shows. The Intl schools are good and housing is good std at OK prices for now (just coming out of a downturn). But overall much better lifestyle than many other expat locales. The govt encourages acceptance of all cultures (nicer than some mid east places I've worked) and attempts to copy UK std's in most things.

If you can accept the downsides its an OK deal on a nice machine.

Tutaewera,

What sort of experience are they after?

Are there minimums strict? Off the record I have 4500hrs 2000hrs light jet and 1000 Dash8

Cool

I'm no expert Pin Head, but I imagine with only 2k on light jets you would be unlikely to get a direct entry command. But an F/O slot is possible. I think there are some contact email addresses on the SIA and SIA cargo career pages on their websites. Best way is to just ask.

One thing though is that the over regulation I mentioned previously seems ingrained into the local psyche. Don't assume you can "reason" you way in based on other experiences you may have. Thinking "outside the box" or making a subjective judgement call is something most locals won't or maybe can't do. So often if you don't meet the formula someone invented its just bad luck!

There is almost no commuter / turboprop / bizjet aviation industry here to speak of, so often the clerk who looks at your application has no idea what a DHC8 / ATR / Saab etc is. The local attitude seems to be that heavy jets are all that matters, having no understanding of the skills or abilities required in other facets of aviation.

But they are still looking and the gossip is they are coming up short, so you never know whats around the corner - worth a go I'd say.

Good luck!
