I have applied afew weeks back after my mate got in afew months ago.
Inaddition to the standard application, I received a email from a Cheung guy asking if I had done any jet type rating overseas. Questioned my mate who is also a instructor and he didny get this email last time. Wondering if it helps to get a 737/320 type done before applying? Does anyone here encounted anything similar? |

And to answer the above; yes I can't quite believe that they are asking about 737 and A320 ratings - considering they don't fly either.
I am sure a 777, A340, A330 rating etc, would be beneficial but not critical |
Kiwi Pilot, it's all on the Cathay Pacific website if you dig a bit into it. They always have an up to date list of fleet and destinations!

Buddy, speaking to the guys who have done it, math test is a mix of everything you mentioned here. It looks like its pretty similar, if not the same like on the latestpilotjobs one, medium level.
And yes, the group exercise and the 747 sim are in the second stage there. |
Stage 2
Has anyone received an invite for stage 2 recently? I know of a few people who did stage one both in HK and locally in the last few months and haven't been contacted.

I heard the rumors going on that CX is now calling shortlisted candidates of more than 500HR for AE and TT. Share your experience and information here ! |

Agree with everything that morespeedtape has mentioned above. Except for the last line. There are people in my course with slightly less than 500 hours total time. However, all of them had a current flying position before applying for the job.
Also quoting the Cathay Pacific website, I don't know how you guys came up with the 500 hours requirement? 'Advanced Entry Programme This is a 31-week programme for global applicants who possess an ICAO CPL and have in excess of 250 hours flight time in specified categories.' |

Hi guys,
My interview is in about 3 weeks for AE. I have been using a combination of SkyTest and LatestPilotJobs software as some of my study material; however, with all the settings and difficulties you can change it makes it hard to know what will actually be expected. Does anybody have recommendations for these pieces of software and also what one was more beneficial? |
First Interview
I had my first stage interview yesterday.
This is almost identical to the exam they give: https://www.raventest.net/ The end of it looked like a 3 year old had drawn 3 random scribbles into Paint then you're asked for what the 4th one would look like. It was about 45 minutes. The technical examination was a range of questions ranging from PPL through to ATPL level - it asked about mach numbers/calculations and the like. It also had some IFR questions in there. I would expect any reasonably experienced junior flight instructor with some IFR instruction experience wouldn't struggle too much. It was about 35 minutes. The interview was about 35 to 40 minutes for me. I was with two HR people from my region. If youve read the guys post from november a few pages back and are prepared for them you wont be surprised by anything they ask. If anybody wants any more specific advice, PM me or reply here. Was you interview in your home country or in Hong Kong (or perhaps you are already a local!)? A couple of q's: - Did you use LatestPilotJobs or SkyTest at all in your prep? If so, which one did you find more like the actual test? - How did you find the math test? How was it laid out? Any examples of Questions? - Have you got any examples of questions from the 35 min multi-choice tech quiz? Thanks :) |

Yeah its a bit random mate unfortunately, In my opinion and again this is just my thought I don't have any actual evidence.
They get you to fill out that form to see if you meet the HKCAD CPL requirements, perhaps you were short on night or something? Anyway, once they have got lets say 50 people in London that are suitable for the HKCAD they will then select 30 most suitable to interview during the one week they will spend there. The first time I got sent the form I sent it back and didn't get an interview, I knew people who did get an interview in that round, they generally had more experience than myself and had applied before me. The second time I got sent the form (some 8-10 months later) I filled it out along with paper work required and got the interview this time, however I did have over 1000 hours at that point.
