@kGann Thanks for the post mate. How thorough were they with your medical history? I'm a bit worried that as to what adversely affects my application in their eyes (apart from the standard Class 1 requirements obviously).

kGann 30th Aug 2015 12:05

@jjhews If you are applying for AE you already hold a Class 1 medical from an ICAO state, so you shouldn't have any issues.

are people including sim time within the hours or just time in aircraft?

MIQ 31st Aug 2015 20:20

I don't think anyone would really care about sim time regarding your TT. Basically anyone can sit in the sim with an instructor and mess around with it for hours on end. I would only include it with the IFR requirements but not in the total time. Up to 20 hours sim can be counted towards your IFR rating.

giuliohck 31st Aug 2015 21:28

Is it possible to join AE with CPL+ single IFR and 220hrs? Or 250TT is a must? Also, is it required to have Multi-IFR?

Has anyone been invited to AE final interviews end of November?

pointyengine 1st Oct 2015 19:07

Yup mid Nov, heard of a few guys who got the offer. Must be a hiring drive.

Droningek 21st Oct 2015 07:32

Has anyone applied from the US that put USA as their primary preference for interview? I'm just wondering since I have not heard from CX yet while other applicants are getting interviews. I have sent my application last May and updated my account monthly since then.

Any feedback will be nice. Thanks in advance

slashhead 22nd Oct 2015 09:18

I was there aswell... still didnt hear anything though..did you?:)

Droningek 24th Oct 2015 00:28

Slashead, well somebody gave me and advice to change the interview place to HK and should be able to get an interview. The only downside to that is you need to get your own ticket to HK for it. I'll keep you posted if something else pops up.

Interview prep resources and guides

@KGann

I have a question about the study guide that applicants use prior to their interviews. What resources did you use for your interview prep?

Another question is that I am graduating in next May and as you might have noticed, there is a column where you can choose level of education you earned.
Can I choose "in progress" and submit the application in advance as CX's nature of process takes about a month or more, so if successful I will be able to get an offer by the month I graduate in May?

Kim.

kGann 15th Nov 2015 20:08

Kim,

Have a read back through this post. I you are seeking entry through Advanced Entry program then you should be well versed in your aviation theory. There are a few suggestions in the post about books to read, the first that jumps out is Handling the Big Jets.

CX has recruitment year round, there are no set dates for offers to go out. If you make the cut you will get an offer for a course. If this fits with your university that is a question only you can answer.

ICAO aviation english proficiency test conversion.

@kGann sir, I hold ICAO level 6 acquired from Transport of Canada, and I am bit worried if this does replace CX ICAO english test.
Lastly, CX wants applicant to check the box for having passes in all ATPL written subjects, and applicants like me holding FAA certificate with degree in aeronautical science, it is hard to find out which criteria I do belong.

Once again, thank you very much sir for taking time to help us out today !

Kim.

Tae..

Transport Of Canada?

Your level 6 does not superceed the CX test or the HKCAD ELP test , both can be difficult if you are not a native speaker.

You will need to provide documentary evidence of all your ATP subject passes

One of the users here suggested latestpilotjobs.com.

I admit, I was lazy and somewhat time constraint and was assuming going to a pay site will in some way make my life easier.

I would NOT recommend this sit e to ANYONE.

They don't have ONE question that was not found on the forums or the first 3 google search results. Some of the questions are provided by incorrect answers, others have vague yes, no type answers. A lot the questions say they need to be answered with your own experience... but the questions are technical, not experience related.

It seems to me that at least some of the questions were answered by searching forums and literally cutting and pasting the answers from the forums.

I lost my money and made my peace with it.. but a caution anyone else to not burn their cash.

MIQ 19th Nov 2015 19:16

I second your experience. I find latestpilotjobs, at least the sector regarding Cathay Pacific (I haven't seen the other ones) to be very lousy, considering they're charging money for it. The website is poorly designed, the content is weak and full of mistakes. If you are charging money for a product, have someone proof read your sentences if grammar is not one of your strengths. I'm not a native english speaker myself but even I was bothered by the many mistakes on that website.

Got sent the HKCAD form last week and sent it. How long does it usually take for an interview date? Has anyone got interview dates recently?

kiwi_pilot_12 21st Nov 2015 21:16

Hi all,

I have just been give my interview date for February '16 in Hong Kong.

To answer a couple of the questions above; I had my application in for approximately one year before I got an email asking me to fill out the HKCAD Form.

I was then asked emailed me advising me of my interview date about one month after returning my form.

- 500 hours total time
- Instructor rating (150 hours instructional)
- MEIR
- CPL
- Frozen ATPL

Would be interested to hear if any others have interviews in Hong Kong at this time. It would be great to meet you!

Good luck to you all :)
