Are you sure that a HKIC is required for for all programs? I found the following on the CX website which suggests that the AE and TT programs are for "global applicants"... while the CP is only for HKIC holders.

The Cadet Pilot Programme is a 55 week programme for Hong Kong permanent Identity card holders with zero or little flying experience. There are also two entry programmes to incorporate global applicants, these include:

The Advanced Entry programme - a 32 week programme for applicants who possess an ICAO CPL and have in excess of 250 hours flight time in specified categories.

The Transition Training programme - a 5 week programme for applicants with an ICAO ATPL, with a minimum of 1500 hours total time, including 500 hours multi-engine time on aircraft with a MTOW greater than 2000kg.

HKID is only a necessity for the ab-Initio program.

Did any expats who applied for AE program get a call for interview?

highflyboy 27th Jan 2015 22:36

I applied back in December I got no calls as yet. I don't think I have the money to go to Hong Kong if I get called.

pacflyer7 29th Jan 2015 06:25

I applied late December for the transition program and I have been invited for an interview in Feb. Any interview tips anyone has would be great.

seymoreskye 30th Jan 2015 13:48

Seymoresky,

How long was your app on file?

Interesting with 1800 hours I received no e-mail. Must be my location.

You applied for AE? With 1800 hours I would assume you would be overqualified, considering you only need 250.

At 1800 hours they'd probably be looking for someone who was capable of applying for TT.

That's just my guess anyway.

pilot4eva 2nd Feb 2015 09:34

@FLGOFF
To apply for TT you need a Full ATPL.Even if you have 2000 hours and don't have 500 hours multicrew you arent eligible for a full ATPL.Atleast thats what its like in the UK.

Yes, that's correct. That's what I meant when I said they might be wanting someone who is capable of applying for TT when they have that many hours. I don't think they'd be interested in someone who's got thousands of hours yet still unable to obtain an ATPL.

kycfi85 2nd Feb 2015 11:49

I applied when I had 300. Since then, I have 1050 tt. 350 ME. I would hope they wouldn't be waiting around for an ATP.

kycfi85 3rd Feb 2015 12:22

Also,

Does my FAA written suffice as meeting passes in atpl subjects?

pilot4eva 3rd Feb 2015 13:32

I don't think so.
Passing one atp exam cannot be equal to passing 14 different atpl exams in Europe/Middle east/Asia.After you get a full FAA ATP its the same as any other ICAO ATPL.

kycfi85 3rd Feb 2015 14:13

Pilot4eva,

Thanks. Makes sense. I had it as completed on my application, but I went back and changed that to be safe.

seymoreskye 3rd Feb 2015 14:30

Anyone know of any recent interviewees going through the process? I know it has just started and are currently interviewing a number of TT guys.

Any recent info would be brilliant.

Does anyone of you know if there are two different application forms for Advanced Entry and Cadet Program?

Thanks!
