CX Retirement
Hi. any update on changing retirement at Cathay?
I would very much like to be considered for a DEFO position and am making a second attempt. But I am old.
Any encouragement would be appreciated.

Retirement age is still officially 55. Soon to be 60, they tell us.
A colleague of mine got on at 49 as a DEFO less than two years ago. 'Experience commensurate with age' is the (arbitrary) yardstick they use.

Hmm... let me see:
47 years old
15,000 total time.
10,000 PIC
4,000 Med Jet
Good letters of recommendation from inside and out of Cathay etc...
Must have been my attitude. MAN I wanted to get on. If they would only tell you why. Maybe it was my medical. I thought all was going well right through the second stage in HKG. Maybe I tried too hard to impress?
I am trying again and hopefully will figure out the magic formula.
Good luck all.
