Well, seeing as this is now purely a Puma HC2 programme, there are 23 Puma HC2’s.

Can Airbus sell us a low performance helicopter with high C of G, small fuel capacity and no anticipators to replace the last one?

or is that just fishing for people with tiger pro-nouns?

That was pretty much the point! Decision made to stag on the Pumas, tefal heads do cost benefit analyses: “not safe without anticipators”. “can we retro fit to the Turmos?”, nope. Eurocopter, can you help? “ Mais oui, mon ami Brittanique, nous avons just the thing! ”….

Obviously, HC1 pilots were superior beings.

You must be referring to other types that actually had a war role? single pilot was ideal for home guard units.

That rules out much of the RAF and AAC of the time.

1 July 2024
Lockheed Martin appears to be on the verge of walking away from the UK’s New Medium Helicopter (NMH) contest
without submitting the Sikorsky S-70M Black Hawk for the final stage of the procurement.
Launching the invitation to negotiate (ITN) stage of the acquisition in February 2024,
the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) set a 30 August deadline for the receipt of final offers.

Launching the invitation to negotiate (ITN) stage of the acquisition in February,
the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) set a 30 August 2024 deadline for the receipt of final offers.

Lockheed declines to address the issue directly,
simply saying that it “continues its dialogue on the invitation to negotiate with the Ministry of Defence”.

The future of the NMH contest itself is also unclear:
the UK general election will take place on 4 July 2024
and the acquisition is likely to be caught up in the political upheaval that will follow.

If Lockheed opts not to proceed, then NMH would become a two-way fight between the Airbus Helicopters H175M and Leonardo Helicopters AW149.

To address the various domestic content and social value requirements of the contest, for which the MoD has assigned a 25% weighting,
Lockheed has pledged that the UK’s Black Hawks would be assembled by its partner StandardAero in Gosport on England’s south coast.

Despite the apparent wavering, Lockheed will have a Black Hawk present at the forthcoming Farnborough 2024 air show,
where Leonardo Helicopters will also have its AW149 in the static display.

Perhaps LM/SAC is wise to be wary of the political storm brewing...someone mentioned a few pages back that one cannot extricate the politics from the process of acquisition.
