3 blades R22 ?

First flight : 1975

Not a Robinson R22 but a Citroën RE-2 (Citroën is a French car manufacturer).

Chief engineer : Charles Marchetti (father of the Alouette II, 330 Puma and 321 Super Frelon)

It was first tested by remote controls but here is a manned test flight. I think the project was scrapped because the Wankel (devellopped by Citroen and NSU) had cooling problems at full blast and could not be certified..... What a pity!.

and this is the new Citroen concept car which is inspired by this helicopter!!!! Check out the contrast with the shape of the "Tube" (grey, square shaped van) in the background on the above Video!!! Time flies faster than anything else!

Wankels are very thirsty but do like to rev high from what I understand.
