Namaste VF ,
I have been meaning to ask you for some time now, what does Sagarmatha mean in Nepalese,
we low country folk simple know it as Mt Everest which always tells us the Highest in the World some say K2 is higher, having never stood on either I cannot make any informed comment.
Stay safe my friend.

Brother - Sagarmatha has a few meanings - 'forehead of the Sky & Sea' & 'the Mother of the Universe'
It is claimed that K2 is the second highest place on our Planet at 28,211' & our Sagarmatha (Everest) is 29,035' (corrected) hmmmm but I have not measured either, have flown up around Sagarmatha to 28,800' (top of climb, she ran out of puff) with 9 cameras filming & 1 Producer/Camera man on-board
Happy landings & Cheers to Life

Time for mourning
Hey mate, I saw this in the news twelve-dead-in-mount-everest-avalanche.
I'm guessing it will be a difficult time for you all up there. Our prayers are with you.
Namaste.

I suspect he will be flying his backside off.
Was just listening to a program on radio 4 about how the compensation to the sherpas familys is $800 and they are going on strike until they get 10k.

Avalanche update
Good morning Fellow Rotorheads
Thank You for Your well wishes & positive thoughts. The unofficial number so far killed in the massive avalanche that fell from Mt. Nuptse inside the Khumb below Sagarmatha (Everest) on the 18th April 2014 is 17 so far, all Sherpa Climbing Guides & Ice-Fall Doctors. No Foreign Climbers were killed.
We have not been involved at the extreme altitudes as our B3+ is down awaiting a module 3 change. But we have been shuttling injured Climbers & Blessed Bodies down from Base camp & Pheriche to Kathmandu.
Om Shanti Shanti Shanti
Blessed Souls lost in the avalanche tragedy of 05/01/2071 in the Khumb; of 'Sagarmatha' - Rest in Peace
Om Mane Padme Hum
Om Mane Padme Hum
Om Mane Padme Hum
Sincere Condolences to All surviving Sherpa Families
Om Shanti Shanti Shanti
