only way you‘re going to make it from that height is to lower the collective and pull again near the ground. That MIGHT have saved the aircraft from damage if timed right.

What always strikes me is the way the peak of Everest can be CAVU within 500 meters, but near the rock you are in whiteout conditions. A challenging place to fly. Requires high performance machinery operating at red-line. Better you than me, matey.
