My thoughts are with the unfortunates affected by the earthquake. They already struggle day to day. This tragedy magnifies the difficulties they must overcome just to provide themselves with shelter and food.
I imagine a donation to the Red Cross would be the best way to help, I hope those of us in the world outside Nepal will give generously.

VF,
Our thoughts are with you and the people in the rest of the affected area. No doubt your skills will be required to try and help out. I hope you are feeling OK.
Having just spent 2 weeks in Bhutan (next door), I now know why you love working there so much.
All the best,
Arrrj

VF,
Always enjoy your marvelous photographs and am glad to hear you are OK. Prayers and thoughts are with the wonderful people of Nepal, and trust they will rapidly get the aid they now desperately need.

Sunday 26th April 1950hrs BST have have just seen on the BBC news what I think is VF in typical landing state blade running T/r well out of everyones way seems up at EBC, in bad Wx conditions
Stay safe old pal

Jon Reiter, the interviewee on the CNN video has a blog here:
Jon Reiter on Everest
Interesting to see the Fishtail helicopter in the video, being marshalled with "hands on the nose". I'll look forward to hearing what VF has to say about that.
I thought Mr. Reiter was extremely polite to the CNN interviewer, considering the stupid questions she asked him.

This was VFs post on FB last night. Also, he no longer flies for Fishtail Air (job change a little while ago) and he is quite ill so I'm not sure that he could fly anyway
Good luck Steve
Earthquake after shocks still continuing 2 to 4 per hour some as high as 6.7 we have no power, food running out, local phones almost useless, intermittent Internet 🏼 feeling worried for our safety with my BeLoved Wife Sherpini Dolma

A job worthwhile
Top-of-the-world April tragedy two years in a row, nature being grim. Helicopters plucking people from harms way, uplifting literally & emotionally.
A job worthwhile VF, sometimes I think all any of us can expect from this eyeblink existence is to have made a difference.

From an old ex SAR Pilot and one who has flown in the foothills of Iran (R7 landing pad was only 12000ft high) - pimples compared to the Himalayas

Private updates from Steve just now are that he has water ("spring water still OK"). I can't report that he has much more than that, other than an intermittent internet connection.
Steve is an intelligent and resourceful man with a cool head in a crisis (Auto into a gorge with whitewater at bottom anyone?), but like all of us I am concerned for him and his wife as the true scale of this tragedy unfolds.

Glad to hear VF and Mrs VF are OK.
Obviously my thoughts are with the people of Nepal and all those affected.
Trying to think of a useful way to help.

A native from Nepal here residing in the USA and aviation enthusiast. Long time fan of Vertical Freedom's (Steven Dai) thread and his amazing work in Nepal.
We need your prayers and thoughts but Nepalis also need help and support in any way possible. Please consider any form of help/support including monetary in this catastrophic time to help the friendly, hospitable people of Nepali in these desperate times.
Thank you

Local news in Singapore says, the Singapore Airforce's 3 X C 130s were diverted to Kolkata, due to congestion in Kathmandu.
RSAF was carrying their own 4X4s and vehicles, for quick deployment.
Must be a mess trying to manage the numerous flights trying to get space

Best wishes and strength VF, your incredible posts on this thread have made the world a small smaller place despite the enormity that is the Himalayas.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the people of the region, wishing you all a quick return to some sense of normality from the current set of difficult circumstances.
