Tax, GHPA, BALPA

As a professional helicopter pilot (or plank pilot) in the UK and are a member of BALPA, you can have a professional subscription added to your Tax code, which can all add up to a tidy sum. If you are a member of BALPA HMRC recognise that the amount you pay is required to help you do your job etc. A phone call can add that allowance to your tax code, saving you money.

If you work for a foreign employer, say CHC or Bristow Int, but reside in the UK then you may be a member of some Union such as the GHPA. I wonder if the HMRC would consider this professional body as the same?

They recognise subs to IPA as well for tax purposes.
