Fruitbats to be more precise. They are quite a pain in the rear...

oscar bravo, many thanks.
you just made me shed quite a few tears. Mostly the joy of sheer beauty of the helis, nature. Twisted with the fact my funding plans (not much of a loans) got messed up badly. So with 50 R22 hours, no chance of finishing up over next 5-7 years. Hmm

All,
Thanks for the compliments on the pics!
They were all taken while on an exploration contract last summer in the Alaska Range...a very beautiful place to fly!
The Revelations Mountains are known for their ruggedness and steep vertical rise...and beauty of course.
A fun summer of flying for sure

As we returned to Blackpool yesterday afternoon, our arrival coincided with the departure of this iconic helicopter so we hovered over to H North and Cyclicchick snapped a few shots of her climbing out over the coast.
In another life.....one very claggy Winter day....two Americans ferrying an S-58T from Aberdeen to Redhill for Bristow.....the following exchange was made.
"Where in the hell are we?"
"I don't know....but it's Three O'Clock!" (As he peered intently straight out the side window)with Map in hand.)
"UH OH! (Or helicopter pilot words to that effect!) (Upon the other pilot leaning over to see out and behind....at whatever the other guy was looking at.)
"What?" (Then a slow freshening of his Situational Awareness....)
Errrrrrr....ahhhhhh.....uhhhhhh....."Big Ben"....like uhhhhhh....London?"

In the particular instance commented upon......I will have to admit.....with great reluctance....and with tucked chin....rounded shoulders....to having used some language me Mum would have been less than pleased to know about. However.....as I was the designated PIC for the flight the entire responsibility for the navigational error was my copilot's fault!

I think the name also reflects the old 757 airframe not the Astreus trolly dollies inside as they were quite good looking until they had became too fat and cranky and then sent off to work for BA.
Ang Tshring Shrepa played a shot on Kongde Ri, a mountain in eastern Nepal, Thursday. The amateur golfer, who owns Nepal’s Yeti Airways, hired a helicopter to get to the location. He plans to invite Tiger Woods to play there. (Gopal Chitrakar/Reuters)
