Amazing rescue -- can this be topped?
I am just reading the latest issue of the Swiss REGA (air ambulance) newsletter. They are recounting an incident which took place at Yverdon 25 years ago:
Parachutist has his chute catch round the tailwheel of a Pilatus Porter and is being dragged behind through the air.
Jumpmaster gesticulates to the poor unfortunate not to pull his reserve.
Jump pilot flies back and forth above the airfield while an Alouette III of the REGA formates above the Porter.
REGA doctor is winched down and cuts the parachutist's rigging lines with a knife, freeing him and allowing him to pull his reserve and make a safe descent.
Amazing.

Would have thought either "cutting away" or releasing the capewells for the main canopy would have accomplished the same thing. That could have been done by the jumper alone.
Amazing not withstanding anything else said!
