In some ways I am no different to PR in that I will 'plug' my book now and then, but I wrote it with the same principles in mind that cause me to write on prune, ie. that I think it is silly to have knowledge and not be able to get it to others. Sales are not my principal interest but if I don't sell it then it will not do anyone any good.
If Pac Rotors does similar (although he may not, I don't know)) then it still is a good cause, and he makes a good point that if popularity of his magazine is a side effect then yes, so what? No one can provide information without having to consider the economics, ie. No cashflow = No publication out there eventually (if it is your living)and all in Heli. Av have lost.
Yes, all mag's are a vehicle for adverts but the revenue has to come from somewhere otherwise the safety advice and knowledege that come alongside that content will not be there either. It is a symbyotic reationship.
The difference in style being that beginning a 'splatter' campaign as soon as you join any group is less likely to succeed than joining in on the sidelines and becoming familiar over time.
That is Pac Rotors only real mistake. People (pruners) have an aversion to too many posts on the bulletin board at once as any group of people will grow tired of a 'newbie' shouting too loud. That is at the base (I believe) of what may have happened.
The principle of withdrawal to see if there is support will likely not work (not saying that this is what is being done by PR) and in truth all on the forum, inc. PR are losers.
Pac Rotors, I will miss SOME of your input, but not to the extend to which I believe you overdid it.
There is and SHOULD be room for all on a public forum, whether they annoy or concur, even if they make a living from Helicopters
(as many pruner's do in different ways).
Unfortunately this right will dissolve (in that others will want to remove you)if you make TOO MUCH NOISE at once, because you then remove other's right to be heard. (or reduce their opportunities to speak).
There have been times when I have felt like
discontinuing my participation in prune but it is merely a snapshot of what life itslef is like sometimes (NOT that I feel like discontinuing THAT!)
Just some thoughts...

Pac Rotors- first of all I like your magazine and recommend it to others. SPS says what I was trying to say in the LTE post, only he says it better and with more tact. I don't question your right to post but I do question your motivation. If your magazine gets some publicity as a result of your postings then good luck to you-I don't have a problem with that, but if your main objective in starting a topic is to push the magazine, then you are abusing this forum and reducing its value. I'm not going to get involved in a 'Just Helicopters' type argument on this subject so this is my final posting on the matter. Good luck with the magazine.
