Post East Shetland Basin QNH

If you are flying in the ESB don't ask the ATCO for the Cormorant QNH, he won't be allowed to give you it. This completely stupid state of affairs has come around due to the MET Office advisor to SRG ATSSD saying, and I quote, "the use of the Cormorant QNH is an accident waiting to happen". There has been no justification given for this comment, they won't give one. As I believe the sensor on the Cormorant exceeds all specifications required for aviation use for an automatic sensor, perhaps someone could explain why this is an accident waiting to happen? I know that you guys all select it when below 1500 feet, so does this mean that SRG Flight Ops have said OK to you using it?
At least after adopting the Marlin QNH we have left behind the dangerous Basin QNH which on one occasion was 15mb different to that on the Cormorant! That made for a fun time trying to separate you lot.
As we used to always use the Cormorant QNH without any problems why the hassle now?

Ah for the good old days of Procedural Approach Service and not all this new fangled Limited Modified RAS( but only on a Tuesday when you are wearing blue socks....)
