Exclamation Any USAF Helo drivers out there?

I'm in the process of applying to the United States Air Force OTS for a pilot position. I'm currently a dual rated pilot with about 800 hrs TT (670 fixed wing, 130 rotary wing) and a Airplane Single Engine CFII, but my goal is to fly helicopters for a living.

A couple of recruiters have told me that the USAF hasn't been selecting any helicopter aplications for the past three years, can this be true? I know they have trained at least a few helicopter pilots in the past couple years, so how do I go about doing it? Do I have to get a fixed wing rating (again) first and then appply to rotary wing training or is there a way to go directly to rotary wing flight school from OTS?

If there are any current or former USAF Helicopter drivers out there who can help me with this, your input will be highly regarded. No offense to the recruiters, but they don't seem very knowledgeable about anything past the OTS portion of training and it's hard to get a straight answer.

Please help!

Thank you in advance..

If you get no rapid response, I would suggest you go to the source directly. Get on the phone, depending on where you live and contact a Commanding Officer of an Air Force Helicopter unit. That should not be hard to find. He will either answer your questions or direct you to someone in his unit who can. Good Group of folks.. If you really get discouraged, try going Coast Guard. If I had it to do over again and didnt get seasick, those guys are OK in my book......
