Compulsary Euro Insurance
Hey Ho,
more Eurocrap hit the doormat this morning.
according to my insurers my third party liability requirement has been set a million quid more than I already have which equates to a premium hike of about £300 per year. this is because Our great and glorious regulators have signed up with Europe which sets rates according to aircraft weight from 30th April 2005.
What a waste of money.
cheers guys, i wouldnt mind being regulated by Europe if the CAA regulated itself out of existance.

I got one of these saying I required £3million cover. After checking with AOPA magazine I actually need to be legal, a minimum of £1.2 million for third party plus £80k per passenger giving a total of £1.36 million. They recommend higher levels for passengers but that should be up to the owner. I wonder if the insurers are cashing in on this?
I don't yet know how this affects my premium.
The regulation is written in insurance speak and uses SDRs (special drawing rights) as currency. 1 SDR=80p.
If anyone is interested I could post a table which shows how to work it out.
By the way. If anyone doesn't know, 3rd party insurance is MANDATORY BY LAW from 30th April in the UK.
