Iowa - lucky escape

SIOUX CITY, Iowa An investigation is under way into an accident involving a hospital helicopter near Sioux City.

Officials say a Mercy Air Care helicopter hit some power lines last Friday night along U-S Highway 20 between Moville and Lawton.

The company that owns the lines, Western Area Power Administration, says the accident damaged two static lines, used to ground power lines for safety, and the tops of two power poles.

No one was injured, and no customers lost power.

Mercy Medical Center officials say the helicopter was returning to the hospital when it hit the wires. There was minor damage to the helicopter, but the pilot, who was the only one on board, was able to fly it back to Sioux City.
A better outcome than most wire strikes!
