Wyoming engine failure, pilot in serious condition

Helicopter Crash in Byron

A Wyoming County man is in serious condition tonight after his helicopter crashed Saturday afternoon. The accident happened around 2-thirty in the town of Byron, in Genesee County. Genesee County Sheriffs say the pilot was John Goho of Mount Morris.

He reported engine failure, moments before the chopper crashed in a field. Mercy Flight took Goho to the Erie County Medical Center. Nearby neighbors say the helicopter just dropped from the sky. “Doyle Helicopter” owns the helicopter. The owner, Mike Doyle, tells News10NBC Goho is a good pilot. The Federal Aviation Administration is now investigating.

A helicopter pilot remains in serious condition this evening in a Buffalo hospital.

The aircraft went down in a field yesterday in the Genesee County town of Byron.

The pilot, 53-year old John Goho of Mount Morris, reported engine trouble before it went down. The aircraft is owned by Doyle Helicopter of Batavia.

Tom Anticola of Doyle Helicopter says, "it just came out of a major maintenance where it was taken completely apart and put back together to Sweitzer procedures, which is the manufacturer of the aircraft in Elmira, N.Y., and no, it's been operating fine. We had no known problem at all."

The federal Aviation Administration is continuing its investigation.

In a later report, it suggests that the pilot reported "engine failure" prior to the accident. Media reports are always so reliable/consistent!!!
