Not exactly .................

$15,000 tab likely for USFS helicopter to empty Nevada outhouse
The Forest Service hired a helicopter today to haul sewage from a remote outhouse in northeast Nevada at the end of a national forest road, saying an offer by a group of anti-federal activists to do the job for free posed a health hazard.
It took about eight hours to haul an estimated one-thousand gallons of sewage from the outhouse near Jarbidge along the Idaho-Nevada line. Combined with a contract with a septic pumping service, it is expected to end up costing the agency as much as $15,000.
A local citizens group that disputes the government's right to close the washed-out road to the outhouse had planned a volunteer work project next weekend. The so-called "Shovel Brigade'' said it could do the job, at no cost to taxpayers, using either four-wheel drive trucks or possibly a horse-drawn wagon.
Bob Vaught is the Forest Service supervisor of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. He told The Associated Press Friday that he turned down the offer because of potential impacts to the Jarbidge River and the threatened bull trout, both in the form of vehicles traveling the washed out road and the threat of a sewage spill.
Vaught is headed to Elko tonight for a meeting with leaders of the Shovel Brigade.

The Shovel Brigade wanted to do the job
RENO, NV, October 15
Shovel Brigade outraged; USFS defends outhouse helicopter
Citizen activists in northeast Nevada are criticizing the Forest Service for spending $15,000 to hire a helicopter to empty sewage from a remote outhouse.
A local group called the "Shovel Brigade'' had offered to do the work for free. A state assemblyman is describing the agency's surprise aerial lift of 5,000 pounds of sewage from the national forest outhouse last week as a "covert operation.''
The controversy is the latest in an ongoing dispute over property rights, a closed Forest Service road and protection of the threatened bull trout in the Jarbidge River near the Idaho state line.
Republican Assemblyman John Carpenter of Elko says there is "quite a bit of hostility'' toward the Forest Service for the way they handled the situation.
Forest Service officials are defending the action. They say they are walking a fine line between protecting a threatened fish and maintaining recreational access to the mountain canyon in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest.

If it were up to some in Forest Service Management, People would not be allowed in the Forests. If it were up to some of the People, some of Forest Service Management would be unemployed......
When I was a kid the Forests were our playground. I went hunting a d roaming around in the vast areas. Times have changed and in defense of the Forest Service there are some real problems out there in the bushes. Im not talking of wild animals. Drug labs, Marijuana Grows etc, have made things a bit dangerous to just drive aimlessly through.
Poachers have also done there share of damage. And many of the unwashed, dump truckloads of trash whenever and wherever.
On the other side of the coin the Tree Hugging whackos have brought about court rulings that require the expense as listed in this thread.
It would be nice to interject some common sense to the situation. I dont think we will see that anytime soon.
