Helicopter in two Welsh sea rescues

IC Wales report:

A 53-year-old man was taken to hospital tonight after trying to rescue a child who got into difficulties in the sea.

A Milford Haven coastguard said the incident happened at Mwnt, West Wales, earlier this evening.

The coastguard said: "The child made it ashore on his own but the man got into difficulties.

"He was winched by a rescue helicopter and taken to Morriston Hospital in Swansea."

The coastguard said that the same rescue helicopter had earlier lifted a 15-year-old boy and a 58-year-old man from the water at Llangrannog, Dyfed.

The boy had fallen from rocks and the man entered the water in a bid to rescue him.

The pair were then taken to hospital by ambulance.
