US Visa + Arrest

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post, and if its not then I assume the moderators will put it somewhere more appropriate.

Basically I am wondering what the procedure is, should I make it to a long haul pilot at some stage in my career, for sorting out the necessary visas. I was arrested a few years ago for an immature prank (we threw eggs at someones car who had cheated on one of my best friends), I realise how juvenile this was and getting locked in a cell for 8 hours did open my eyes a bit. That was a few years back but officially I was still arrested. (I was never charged only given a caution and told to go away)

Does anyone know what the procedure is for airline crews that have been arrested (but never charged) when flying to the states?

I am just about to start my training so I hope people dont think I am being presumptious talking about when I am working for a long haul airline. (I'd be v happy flying spamcans around if they paid me).

I am also considering changing jobs before I start to save up a bit more cash, and this may involve travel to their offices out in California. Does anyone know if this arrest will mean I cant go, or whether it would mean a couple of months wait so I couldnt go out there in a hurry if the need arose?

Hope I made sense, sorry to ramble on!

Rob

PS I tried doing a search on this but to no avail! If this has already been discussed somewhere then please just point me in the right direction. Cheers!

Never draw the attention of the horrid little socialists who run any public service to your attention.
If you're really worried about this tiny matter, drift into your local Gestapo HQ and ask for the paperwork to request a police reference for your next prospective employer. If you get a clean bill on this it will mean that the GHQ has no record on you. Therefore, you are clean if not innocent. Oh yes, I have a vexillogical collection of some amusement as were the nights when we sallied forth to acquire the trophies.

Re: US arrest

Hallo R Brown,

I travel to the US frequently and there is a fine that I had incured as commander of a charter airline on my personal record. The matter was resolved and no penalties where paid since the mistake was made by our US handlers. However, the (supposed) fine stays on my record and every now and again some customs or immigration official enquires about it since it pops up every time I go thru border control as a crewmember. It has never caused any problems for extending my crew visa so I guess your (youthfull) indiscression will be dealt with in the same way.
Good luck with your carreer and with obtaining a US visa.
