Good morning,
I have recently seen through previous messages that britannia are recruiting. I have visitied their site already and this fact turned out to be true. They are recruiting as of next month - June 2001. I was wondering if anybody knew whether they did a sponsorship scheme or even a part-sposnsorship training scheme of any kind. I already work for the Thomson Travel Group and have been told that this would be a benefit for me, however, I am not the holder of any license. This is mainly due to the fact that i am still a student and cannot really afford to get one. Hence the reason i am looking for airlines that do at least some sponsorship schemes. I know Air2000 are recruiting in September for their scheme and BA are always recruiting. I have already applied to BA, but unfortunately failed at the Aptitude's stage. I am re-appying this year though and hopefully will get further. Does anyone know, if I got to the final board with BA, would they turn me down because I am in the middle of a degree and they wouldn't want to pull me out - or would they see that I am the right person and offer me the position right away? Are their any other airlines who offer sponsorhip schemes? Ryanair/easyjet? I went to their websites also, but they don't have a lot of information regarding recruitment.
Any help on this would be extremely useful
Regards Rossco

People have been taken on by BA even although they have not finished there degree program. However, I do think that the vast majority of people who have been successful have completed their degree or are in their final year THEN go on to training, that does not mean that you should wait until your final year to apply, apply as often as you can until you get accepted!
I am pretty sure that ryanair and easyjet do not recruit people for sponsorship however, bmi, air 2000 and others do, check the other posts for details.

Rossco, I am your twin !!
Applied to BA last year - didn't get past the aptitudes.
Trying again this year and I'm determined to get at least to the interview stage.
Currently one year into my four year degree course in Computing and just like you, haven't got the pennies for gaining some flying experience.
Best thing we can do I think until we reapply to BA is keep reading Flight International, go to a couple of air shows over the summer (paris might to be a good idea), maybe get a summer job working closely with or within an airline.
Best of luck
Steve

Yeap Steven,
Im looking to get at least to the final board this time. I think getting to the aptitudes first time is a good thing, coz it means i bet a lot of people. I didnt really prepare for the tests that much last year, as it was slap bang between my exams. This year, im leaving it till after my exams so i can give it a better shot. I am determined i will get through this year. I have seriously considered paying for it myself, but it is very expensive. In USA, at Orlando flight training or EFT, the prices aren't that bad. im going to go and give OFT a quick look while im over in Florida this summer and see what it is like. Anyway good luck for this year, we all need it - but remember to work hard for the tests and we'll be seeing you in the final board. Coz if you can get to the final board, then you're flying.
Good luck
