Talking One hurdle over

I am 37 work full time in the Insurance Industry.

I have manged in the past 18 months to get through the CAA technicals, CPL navs because techs were expiring and ATPL navs finished this month, with a Nav resit at 92%, thanks to Pete Lines! And remain a top producing salesman.

I hate to think what my blood pressure has been!!!!!

It has been a bloody nightmare!!!! but I would like to thank the inspiration that I have gained from this site.

I have a PPL 150 hrs total
JAR class One medical.

At my mature age should I do CPL module IMC and FI rating, Start instructing and build hours.

As it would appear that jobs as a Frozen ATPL with IR and low hours are pretty difficult to obtain.

I know I will not earn much as an instructor , but it is a start, and I do not want to be selling Insurance for the rest of my life!!!!

Will my sales and marketing background help me in my challenge to fly for a living?

Any advice gratefully received.

By the way I have Wife who without whom I could not have got through the exams, and two kids, and a cat. My Wife works, and she is totally behind me, even after I have told her what flying instructors get paid.

I'm sure you'll get lots of advice, help and encouragement from others who, like you, have started their conversion to a flying career late in life. Captain Pprune himself was one such. Congratulations on your PPL and class 1.
I couldn't help chuckling at your style of prose - you didn't need to tell us that you were in sales and marketing. One-sentence paragraphs that read like a press-release are an instant giveaway! Don't use this style when you start writing CVs, as it's very wearing to read.
Best of luck!

Question

I was, and very good it was too!

How did you get on?

Have been reading threads about CPL,IMC

still unsure whether is wise to do this

rating or not. Surely if it gives a reduced

IR course it must be worth it.

SB,

Pleased to see you got through. You will need to watch that July 2002 date with care. I've had protracted correspendence with the faceless ones, but dispite my request for a meeting with LR, have failed to get one.

Also, they have been very un sympathetic to all my arguments.

I think they will get a lot of trouble over this next year if they don't change that dead line.

As for myself, I'm comming close to throwing the towel in. After a lot of bangng my head against the wall, it now hurts.

If I do chuck it all in, I'll make a load of noise in the process.

We should meet and mull it over.

See ya
