Chasing the Dream
Hello everyone,
I hope this message finds you well. I'm reaching out to this esteemed community to share a dream I've held for many years and to seek your insights and advice.
At 36 years old, with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a stable job, I find myself at a crossroads. For as long as I can remember, I've been fascinated by aviation and the thought of becoming a pilot has always been a cherished dream. Now, as I contemplate my future, I’m seriously considering taking the leap to turn this dream into reality.
I plan to dedicate the next four years to studying and training, aiming to start my pilot career in my early 40s. My plan is to pursue this journey via modules, beginning with the Private Pilot License (PPL) and then progressing through the necessary stages thereafter, under the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulations. Financially, I have a solid foundation and although I don't have all the funds required upfront, I’m confident in my ability to manage the costs with my current financial structure.
Family is also on the horizon for me, with plans to start in about 1-2 years. This adds another layer of complexity and consideration, but also a profound sense of motivation. I want to set an example for my future children that it's never too late to chase your dreams.
I’m aware that embarking on this journey later in life comes with its own set of challenges, both physically and mentally. However, I believe my background in engineering has equipped me with strong problem-solving skills and a disciplined approach to learning that will serve me well in flight training.
I would greatly appreciate any advice, experiences, or thoughts you might have on starting pilot training later in life, especially on pursuing it via modules under EASA regulations. What challenges should I be prepared for? Are there any specific strategies or resources you would recommend?
