Question for those in the know:
I have a friend who has a CPL and frozen ATPL who wants to build hours. I want to get a PPL in the UK. Putting 2 + 2 together: Can this friend teach me to fly, and help both of us, or does he HAVE to have an Instructor qualification?
By the way, please don't bite my head off as I am just starting out in the world of aviation.

Yes he can ! But not a good idea !
Your friend can teach you to fly but unfortunately the hours and experience gained will not count towards your license so are worthless.
Unless your friend is a qualified and current flight instructor you are learning how to fly but you cannot count the hours!

Please
This is a simple one
Only a duly JAR qualified and current flying instructor can teach you to fly in the UK.
If your mate tries to teach you please refuse as he may be teaching you things in the wrong and potentially FATAL way!!
I know it's expensive but what price would you put on your life.
There are dozensof training schools around the country, walk into any one of them and you should get some good advise.
Good luck
