Top tip: DON'T SHOUT. And learn what the caps lock key does.

As to your question, I'm sorry I can't help.

Use the 'Search' option and you'll find loads of opinions on OFT - in my opinion there are MUCH better schools than OFT..... Don't be clawed in by all the fancy graphics in their adverts.

I agree with Harvey, bigger is not always better - do a search and read what is said.

If you do go there, aviod Katana N442PC - last time i saw it, it was in bits after a real forced landing

Have fun where ever you go

I can recommend OFT. I had some fun there last year. Admittedly the price may be a little higher than some schools (in the USA – prices much lower than England of course), however, the airport at Kissimee is excellent and many of the aircraft are extremely new and equipped with GPS etc. Flying in and around Class B airspace is excellent experience. Happy flying!

I was there in February and March. They have some good people and some not so good people, likewise with aircraft. I don't think I would go again.

I went to OFT in 2000 and did the three week PPL. My major criticism is that the adverts at the time (not sure about now) mentioned classroom training, which is a load of crap. All seven PPL written exams need to be studied by yourself in the three weeks - or at least thats whats expected of you.

If you have queries then you can ask the instructors but don't expect to be taught in a structured way in the classroom. There was an instructor there when I was called Alex who was very good but sadly he has gone. A few guys had the good idea of studying and passing all ground exams before they went to OFT (you get all the books sent to you from Cabair as soon as you pay the deposit), so they could then concentrate on flying in the three weeks and play golf! I would have done it this way if I had known and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND you do this.

Other than the ground school everything else is good. Nice airport and Florida is an excellent place to fly - would recommend you pay the extra to fly the PA28 Warrior - nice and new and has GPS incase you get lost. I have good memories of when I was there and loved it, although I have never worked so hard in my life as in those three weeks (studying from scratch).

Good luck!

Almost forgot...

...you can't do the RT practical exam at OFT - they don't provide the facility. When I was there people were complaining because they thought they couldn't complete the PPL at OFT as they hadn't done the RT practical with them. This isn't correct. I came home and got my PPL certificate and then a few weeks later sat the RT practical and got my RT licence - but I did have to pay to do the practical exam (£20 I think).
