welll....
for the UK you need either a parent or grandparent from said country and yer in.
for Oz and NZ you can stay in either on a 12 month visa extendable for 3 years and then apply for citizenship.

Sorted.

Wrong mr.smith. It is not as easy as you say to get residency in Australia, in fact it is really quite difficult. The 12 months you mention is a working holiday visa, and they CANNOT be extended. Permanent residency in Oz is only through family, skill or sponsorship. Family is self explanitory. Skilled migration requires passing the points test, you would need a full ATPL and good airline experience to pass, but I believe the DIEA has now said no pilots can apply due to there being an ample supply of local pilots. Sponsorship is possible, but again as a pilot it would be unlikely.

As far as Oz goes-it works on a "points" system-that is, you will accumulate x many points if you already have family living there; x many points if you are under 35; x many points if you have been educated to this level, x many points if you have above a certain level of disposible income.

Obviously the more you "score", the more chance you have.

They're looking for young, well-educated and well-supported people with possible family connections in Oz, who can contribute positively to the economy!

Good luck! (if you've lost faith with the UK! ).

If you looking to pickup a Aussy/Kiwi/SA chick try the Church at Kings Cross. Turn up there at 12 noon on sunday and follow the crowds. Even if you don't pull its a top day out.

C'mon man, the church is a filthy sleazy drinking pit of hell ... you would be lucky to pull the skin off a rice pudding after an hour in there!

The Covent Garden Walkabout ... now that's the place to meet discerning antipodean lasses of quality and refinement

There's an idea - a bit like schoolkids swap cards, only instead of the deal occuring in the schoolyard, the transaction gets done in a church or registry office:

"I'll trade you my Oz & UK nationalities for your USA right to work. As a bonus I'll add a potential Rebublic of Ireland passport & free access to New Zealand!"

Oz as has been said you need to do the points thing. Skills they are looking for at the moment (well, they were 6 months ago) are skilled/experienced ATPL holders (esp 737 rated people), IT skills, Medical, Electronic skills - ie engineering etc. Apply and see what happens. One Scottish guy applied a few years ago and got the visa 4 months later. (Electronics engineer - now helicopter pilot)

Thumbs up

Church and Walkabout - aaah the memories.

I met some fine and upstanding members of the atipodean community at both places.

Not sure I would want to marry any of them though.
