Question To all Pilot's - Remember !

It is a scientifically proven fact that an Average human being can not remember every detail of the theory that one has memorized once, for a prolonged period of time.
Taking the Example of the ATPL exams, We study hard for say a year or two, and clear the ATPL exams. But once we have that exam cleared and the License issued, say after a period of 2-3 years, we start forgetting the basics to which we are not in regular touch.
My Question is towards every Pilot not withstanding Country or Authority barriers.
I would like to know the methodology one uses to Remember the Vast wealth of Knowledge.
Also towards the unfortunate ones who do not have a flying job and have to do something else to earn a living for the time being.
What is it that you do ? Make your Own notes ? Go through the PPL study material once in a while ? Or the ATPL Study Material ?
Whatever it is, Pen it down. How do you Remember all of it for the rest of your life?
I do not wish to compare or Generalize the topic since every Brain is Different.

Even though you cannot necessarily remember the detail, you should have enough knowledge to work from first principles or at least have a sense of when you are being given suspect information. At the very least you must know where to find stuff.
One problem I've notice on line, is that incorrect knowledge and advice that seems sensible can spread through the crews. One has to question much and that often means occassionally referring back to ATPL books, but most often company supplied Jep manuals, QRH, OM Part A, B, C, D (as required), FCOMs, FCTMs, ICAO, OPS, FCL, whatever. The Jep manuals in particular encapsulate ICAO and state procedures and, knowing your way around those is essential.
I'll often use longer cruises to go through FCOM 2, section by section.
I also keep a notebook in my breast pocket which summaries briefing prompts, key normal and supplementary procedures, MORAs for our network, relevant navaid DoCs, planning minima, etc. Something I can easily refer to that encapsulates core knowledge. It is also useful for noting weaknesses that need to be dealt with too.
It is a constant effort and motivation to keep on top of it can wane from time to time.

Useful information that I use every day is kept in a handy A5 folder in my flight case.
Reference material such as limitations and SOPs are contained in one of several volumes in the flight deck. I don't know everything from memory, but I do know where to look.
The other billion and one facts from the ATPL syllabus (e.g. gyroscopic precession, LORAN, orbital altitude of GPS satellites, number of halon extinguishers on a 401 seat aircraft, size of registration letters on an airship, etc) are not particularly useful, and are therefore gathering dust in a box in my attic.

I hadn't considered the Line Operations documentation ( FCOM, Jep, SOP, etc ). Thanks for Adding those.
I guess its time for me to make my on Pocket Notebook and A5 Binder.
And above all , the Motivation !
There's got to be more ways you use Pilots !
I guess the way of Remembering also varies from the field of operation.
Instructors have different way's compared to Pax or Freight Pilots. Fixed wing Pilots might have Different ways from Rotor Pilots and Vice Versa, Etc.
Please Pen your ways.
