Starting CPL Mon-Class I lapsed

I am starting my CPL on Monday and notice I need my Class I renewed, phoned my AME and he's on holiday til Monday, phoned FTO and instructor on holiday til Monday, I am under the impression that only need a class I for license issue, is this true? What I am really trying to ask is will I be able to start the course with a class II til my AME gets home from vacation?

Shouldn't be a problem at all, a lapsed class 1 is acceptable up to the IR skills test when you need to be holding a current medical.

I seem to remember from my cpl training that you need a current class one for the skills test, but you should be ok for the training
