ARC-2 - need wind arm?
Hi,
Going through what I need to start this
process of converting my FAA ATPL to JAA. I see that I need a flight computer and this one has been recommended. Do I need one with a wind arm? What difference does that make?
Thanks, and commiserations to anyone going through the same thing!

You need one with a windarm, if it don't have one, I have heard of companies that do, I believe Pooleys can add one on for you for a small fee.
Try looking on ebay, search for ATPL and you will find an ARC-2 with wind arm

The Pooley's CRP-5 can be purchased with or without a wind arm.
I have one with a wind arm and find it useful since the surface of the wind side doesn't get discoloured and dirty with all the marks that have to be made on it.
However, they are used in a slightly different way so make sure you can find someone who knows how to use them in order to show you. I found that my study manuals only explained use of the flight computer without a wind arm.
Cheers
