Question Flight Instructor Restrictions HELP ???

Can anyone shed any light on the SPIC PIC thing for Flight Instructor Ratings.

I have 240 hours, and in MY PIC column on my logbook it states 110.8, however this incorporates all flight tests SPIC and IF flying SPIC.

Can I count these for my 100 PIC to allow me to commence the FI course ???

Thanks Guys/Gals

not true, you need 200 hours to commence an instructor rating if you hold a CPL.

According to LASORS you need :-
200 hours total time, with 100 hours PIC for CPL/ATPL holders, and 150 hours PIC for PPL holders.

I'm not sure about the answer to smartcol's original question, but Lasors say you can count SPIC as pilot-in-command time if the time is countersigned by the instuctor.

Pre-entry requirement for the fixed-wing FI course is 200 hours, of which 100 must be PIC. SPIC may be included where it is flown as part of an approved course, which means the integrated CPL/IR or integrated ATPL course. No other approved course includes SPIC.

SPIC may not be logged for flight tests, which should be logged as PIC/US if succesful or P/UT if unsuccessful. This applies only to flight tests conducted by CAA or JAA Authorised Examiners for licence or rating issue. Check rides required by club rules, insurance companies, etc. may not be logged as PIC/US but are either PIC or P/UT, depending who is the nominated commander of the aircraft for the duration of the check ride.

The table in LASORS, Section A, Appendix B details how flights should be logged.
