Consolidation in Scottish GA

From Cloud Global Group acquires Border Air Training - BQLive

"Scottish aviation business, Cloud Global Group, is looking to continue its expansion with the purchase of Carlisle-based Border Air Training.

"Since its launch in 2010, Glasgow Airport-based Cloud Global Group has been providing aviation recruitment services and aircraft leasing. The group also offers commercial flight training and aircraft maintenance services from Perth Airport in Scotland.

"Border Air Training has been operating flying schools at Carlisle Airport in Cumbria and Cumbernauld Airport in central Scotland for 26 years.

"The deal also includes the acquisition of airline Fly Scenic Scotland who operate sightseeing flights and provide aircraft charter services throughout the United Kingdom.

"The purchase of Border Air Training and Fly Scenic Scotland will create an operation with a combined turnover of £4m and a workforce of 30 employees.

"The new developments at Cloud Global come on the back of the purchase of Perth based ACS Aviation Ltd in November 2016.

"The Cloud Global Group now has bases at Glasgow, Cumbernauld, Perth, Oban and Carlisle Airports making it a leading aviation company."

Utterly misleading article in today's Herald titled 'Fly Me To Dunoon'
which goes on about "opening up new routes in west Scotland", which appears to be on the basis that Border Air Training holds an AOC. That AOC is based on operations by two Cessna 172s.

I'd love to see what the CAA would say about A to B pax charters to the (as the article suggests) Inner Hebrides in a 172.

Cloud Global clearly has a great PR machine. Substance seems to be rather less in evidence.

Still, at least Dunoon will have a new airport
