VFR Netherlands-UK-Guernsey
Hello,
I`m planning a flight from The Netherlands via Shoreham (or Lydd?) to Guernsey sometime next month.
I have read about the new PPR requirements for a flight to the Channel Islands.
My question is: Do I still need to file a General Aviation Report (GAR)?

Yes you do.
PPR requirements are for the ATC element of the operation and the GAR form for the security as in Special Branch.

So this is also applicable to Dutch registered aircraft? The form looks a bit like it is used by customs rather than security staff.

Sorry Brain not in gear when I answered.
When flying from UK to channel islands you need to file a GAR form for immigration, customs and also special branch clearance. Even for a Dutch aircraft as you are flying from a UK airport. If you went direct or from France then you wouldn't need the Special Branch but you would need to inform the Douane of the flight with the notice for that airport.
I suggest that you ring shoreham direct and ask what paperwork you need just incase they have an advance notice period to provide it.
Also if you look on the Welcome to AOPA UK site ether is guidance on flying outside of the UK.

Your last flight out of the Schengen region needs to depart from a customs airport.
Landing in the UK needs either to be a designated customs airport, or file a GAR with customs 4 hours before landing.
UK to Channel Islands
For UK Side, you need to file a GAR with the local police force 12 hours in advance. You also need to file the GAR with Customs and special branch. (Strictly speaking you need permission from Customs to fly to the Channel Islands as it is outside the EU, but that seems to be largely ignored, and everyone seems happy if you just file the GAR).
For the Channel Islands side of things, you'll be asked to fill up a GAR like for on arrival in the Channel Islands (no need for advance notice or permission from CI Customs/immigration).

So, I just want to stop halfway for some lunch.
Apart from the obvious flightplans:
I have to file a GAR for the inbound flight to Lydd, one GAR for the flight to Guernsey. This has to be filed by Telefax (who still uses that?) to the UK border agency in Kent.
Le Touqet is starting to look mighty nice......

There is space on the GAR to enter your inbound and outbound flights.
If you use a "designated" airport (designated for customs, immigration and Special Branch...and not all are designated for all agencies. They are shown on the GAR form itself) then you can ignore the GAR, though you'll probably be asked to fill one up on landing.
Having said that, if I was you'd I'd also go via France, as you're not tied in to a particular time. However you must do this via a Customs airport in France, as you can only leave the Schengen Area via a customs airfield. Depending on the field you pick, you may also have to give some notice. Check the French AIP for the field you choose to see if it's a customs field, and if they require notice.

wouldn't it be simpler to have lunch somewhere in France? But perhaps it is easier to enter the CI zone from UK airspace than from French?
The alternative is to use a UK airport which is "designated for terrorism". There are a few of them e.g. Bournemouth, Biggin, Bristol, Cardiff. You can find them on page 4 of this, marked by the red cross.
Remember also the new and bizzare CI PPR and routing requirements.

Simples. Although AAUI now you'd need the PPR number from CI ATC to put on the Olivia flight plan.
