Aerad / Jeppesen IFR Manual updates ?

I've looked online for prices for these updates before I decide which to buy.
The manuals themselves look very similair and they are priced pretty much the same.
Anybody any experience of either, regarding the updates.

Apologies if this has been done to death before.

Many thanks...

How much IFR flying are you planning on doing?

I have just stopped buying the Jepp updates as the prices are horrific for very little and it peeves me to buy the same information 4 times of them at vastly inflated prices.

I have been using a number of internet services like EuroFPL for planning and briefing and they are a fraction of the cost of the Jepp service.

Everything you actually need is out there FOC its just sites like EuroFPL bring it all into one interface.

I'm hoping to start training towards my IMC and I was looking to get a bit of a head start by getting one or the other beforehand.

However, its all available free at the ais website ?

So whats the difference ?

I'm all confused.............

For and IMC I would just use the AIS site and download the plates that you need. Unless you own a full IFR aircraft and intend on doing a lot of IFR touring around the UK you will net get the return on buying a Jepp sub.
