Sorry Flyswift - I can better that with 7.5 hours

Mind you that took me from 0 hrs to first solo - then managed to lose my job (the morning after soloing - talk about ups and downs )

Anyway, vowed to get the PPL this year so only 360 days left. One hour per week should do it - all I have to do is make that phone call and book a slot. Well, I'll do it next week when I'm less busy... Sound familiar?

21:33 in a variety of aircraft, mostly in NL, 6 or so in Florida and an hour or so in the UK. Nothing from July to November due to various circumstances.

Promised myself to do more in 2002 - already started with a quick hour today in beautiful SKC conditions, fantastic.

68.5 - Not a bad start, and it'll do for a 5 month total. Should get some nice hours in next year as well...

PS WhirlyBird - have you got details of your Dawn to Dusk entry on a website or somewhere? I'd love to see what you did (I know it was a figure of eight over Wales, but thats about all I've read...) Congratulations, by the way!

Woah!!!!!Managed 25! which included IMC re-newal, AOPA aerobatic certificate and PIC. Aiming for 30 this year.
I know now that getting the licence was easy - keeping it is the part to be really proud of!

54.1 hours for me in 2001, the worst annual total for me yet since starting in 1996!!! Total hours now 619.0. Each year I've flown less, I must be getting older...or house buying...or getting married...or getting responsible??? DAMN, what is happening to me??!!! Must do more in Y2K2.

Only managed one new aircraft type, the Katana, in 2001 too. Ho hum.

Most unusual airfield for first time visit? Amsterdam (yes, Schiphol!).

47 hours, between my trial lesson end of Jan and passing a PPL skills test in early December. Hope to do about 40 - 50 hours this year with some further training (tailwheel, aeros, some different type checkouts in the cause of sharpening my pure handling skills & experience) along with a good belt of P1 navigating up and down the country. I suspect that the IMC may have to wait until 2003 - I want to strike a careful balance between learning new skills and refining existing ones through greater experience of using them.
Also hoping that the right shared ownership opportunity will come along at some stage (no rush, there's plenty to be getting on with) and that I will recognise it when it does...

Courtman, that's well over 100 hours a year average!!! I think that's even more than I've managed - total of about 380 since late 1997 - and I thought I was hopelessly addicted. So if you only did around 50 last year, how many do you usually do?

I managed 37.5 hours last year, which was a bit less than the year before.

The high points: 2.5 hours in a Yak 52; 30 minutes in a Tiger Moth (G-ACDC) and getting to the Old Timers Fly-in at Schaffen Diest.

The low points: paying an exorbitant landing fee at Redhill for 540 metres of soggy grass, then having to walk about a mile round the peri track to get a cup of tea; and having to divert to Duxford after getting caught up in a snowstorm just before Christmas.

Money and medical permitting, I'm hoping to pass 200 hours this year.

Whirlybird,

My annual hours have gone [downhill] as follows since I began in 1996.

1996 95:30
1997 136:10
1998 156:00
1999 98:55
2000 67:05
2001 54:05[/list]
I was hour-building, but not in USA or just flying in circles, for a while towards a ATPL. Have done loads of touring, some flights for the club (delivery after maintenance, rescue after tech. etc). Visited 119 different airfields, flown only 11 aircraft types (need more!). Got IMC and night ratings. Done some sea-plane flying in Seattle. Not flown a taildragger or twin yet, will put that right in 2002.

Then the CAA spoilt the ATPL plan for a while. Now I can go for it again, but not sure if I want to yet. I just aim to enjoy what I've already done and plan to do for a while!

Only 19 ½ hrs, pretty pathetic really, but then on checking through my logbook I didnt get to fly at all last year until the end of April due to all the rain down here closing the strip for most of the winter.

Try to do better this year, and Bonne Année à tous!... As they say here!!

Wink

59.4 which I thought wasn't bad until I read the others. 365!! Obviously not married and must be IMC/IR.

Most of mine were meaty flights every 3 weeks or so, best one being a trip from Blackbushe to Biscarosse via La Rochelle. Fantastic!
